In today's legal environment, matching your needs with the correct firm is crucial to the successful outcome of your legal matters. Like so many other areas, in law, the pace of change can be overwhelming.

As an informed consumer of legal services, you need to be sure that the firm you select is in fact qualified to handle the matter at hand. Today, that's more important than ever.

I have listed below, a brief description of some of the areas I manage in my law practice. Please review those you may have an interest in and contact me. I will provide you more detail regarding my expertise in these areas of Illinois State law.

Administrative Law - I represent clients in all aspects of Federal and state regulation (with the Illinois Department of Public Health and the Illinois Secretary of State, Department of Business Services), including administrative appeals and litigation before the courts. I am well versed in the requirements of the Administrative Procedure Act, which deals with administrative hearings and adjudication, administrative investigations, administrative officers and agents, administrative rulemaking, licensing, and regulatory enforcement. I specialize in health care and business regulation, contracting and project development, and legislative consultation.

Agricultural Law - I have broad experience in the area of Agricultural Law, which includes grain storage facilities, the Illinois Grain Act, sale and leasing of agricultural Real Estate, farm subsidies, and employment law.

Bankruptcy - I represent individuals and commercial clients in bankruptcy proceedings, that are initiated by either an insolvent individual, or business, or creditors seeking to have the debtor's remaining assets distributed among the creditors.

Business and Commercial Law - I provide a wide variety of services to business clients from assisting in selecting the type of organizational entity under which to operate, preparation of transaction agreements, sale and purchase of businesses, financing and funding for business operations, and employee relations, to dissolution.

Business Organizations - The form of business chosen for a business entity potentially affects every aspect of its operations. I assist my clients in formation and business planning in deciding whether they want to operate as a closely held business, limited liability company, partnership, or corporation. I advise my clients about directors' and officers' liability, dissolution, franchising, reorganization, trade association membership and activity, joint ventures, mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, business successions, and shareholders' rights.

Employment Law - Employment law covers a complex network of laws that controls how employers must treat employees, former employees, and applicants for employment. From an employer's perspective, I have significant experience in interpreting and construing state and Federal statutes and case law in areas such as employment discrimination, affirmative action, sexual harassment, employee benefits, whistleblower litigation, wrongful discharge, employment contracts, the Americans With Disabilities Act, the Family Medical Leave Act, the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act, the Federal Employer's Liability Act, the Occupational Safety and Health Act, and special laws governing municipal employment.

Entertainment, Sports & Leisure Law - I am knowledgeable in this complex area of the law which includes art, entertainment, sports, tourism, travel, and leisure; often extends into contract, copyright, and tort matters; and requires negotiation and drafting of sophisticated and complex legal documents.

Estate Planning and Probate - I handle Estate Planning matters which entails the distribution of an individual's property at death, taking into account wills, taxes, insurance, property, and trusts so as to gain maximum benefit of all laws and, at the same time, carry out the person's wishes. Probate is the court proceeding through which a will is proved to be valid and the estate of a decedent is administered. The process, generally, includes collecting a decedent's assets, liquidating liabilities, paying necessary taxes, and distribution of property to heirs.

Government Agencies & Programs - I represent clients in matters in connection with state and federal agencies and programs, such as The Illinois Department of Public Health, the Illijois Secretary of State, The Illinois Department of Agriculture, the Illinois Department of Professional Regulation and the Internal Revenue Service. I advise clients in situations where action, or inaction, of a government agency or availability of a government program affects or potentially affects them.

Health & Healthcare Law - I have extensive experience in the large and complex body of health and healthcare law which encompasses areas such as disability law, elder law, hospital law, and nursing home law and is impacted by Social Security Disability, Medicare and Medicaid, and the Food and Drug Administration. I also represent physician groups and practices.

Immigration & Naturalization Law - I represent clients before the Immigration and Naturalization Service and provide guidance in matters relating to immigration and naturalization, visas, citizenship, asylum, employment, and deportation. I have experience in interpretation and compliance with Immigration and Naturalization Act.

Intellectual Property Law - I am experienced in copyrights, trade dress, trade secrets, and trademark matters, representing both individual and business intellectual property creators and developers.

Labor Law - Labor law is a broad area of the law that covers the relationship between groups of employees, organized into unions, and employers, that is, management. I have a history of representing major employers locally in labor arbitration, labor disputes, labor legislation and regulation, labor relations board proceedings, unfair labor practices, and wage and hour laws.

Probate & Estate - Probate is the legal process by which a person's debts are paid and assets are distributed upon death. The entity that owns the deceased's assets until those assets are distributed is an "estate." Estate Administration includes the probate process as well as non-probate transfers of the deceased's assets. Individual state laws direct the probate court how to distribute the deceased's estate. State laws and procedures vary greatly, so, it is important to consult a firm with expertise in probate to ensure that the deceased's assets are distributed correctly.

Real Estate - I represent both commercial clients and individuals in all proceedings and transactions that deal with real property-land and the structures attached to it-including purchase and sale, construction, mortgages and foreclosures, leases, zoning, title examinations, quiet title actions, closings, and management.

State, Local & Municipal Law - I practice in the State, Local & Municipal Law area and have expertise and knowledge in the areas of powers and liabilities of state and local government and municipal corporations, including matters such as land use and zoning issues, municipal employment disputes, and injuries to personal or property by municipal employees.
